A hangover is a term used to describe the unpleasant sensations and feelings after heavy alcohol consumption. A hangover may last a couple of hours or a couple of days and the symptoms, as well as their severity are dependant on a person’s alcohol tolerance levels, the amount of alcohol consumed, mixing of various alcohols, hydration etc. The most common symptom of a hang over is a headache. Nausea, weakness, diarrhoea and a “fuzzy” head (inability to think clearly, indecisive, forgetful), are also experienced often during a hangover. Less common symptoms are vomiting, abdominal pains and in severe cases, gastritis may occur. The headache, tiredness and mental disturbance associated with a hangover are believed to be caused by dehydration.

The best known cure for a hangover is abstinence of alcohol, however there are other way in which you can reduce you hangover symptoms. The most commonly used method is to ensure hydration by drinking plenty of water.
